What happened
On Aug. 31, FMCSA announced the emergency removal of more than 110 Entry-Level Driver Training providers from the Training Provider Registry. Those providers must immediately stop providing curricula, using facilities for instruction and conducting behind-the-wheel training. FMCSA also said July investigations involving 175 investigators in 40 states produced more than 160 notices of proposed removal, and the agency is beginning a nationwide audit of third-party CDL skills testers.
What drivers should do
Before paying or beginning training, search the provider in FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry and confirm the exact legal name, address, training location, CDL class or endorsement and current status. Check again before course completion. Keep the enrollment agreement, refund policy, receipts, attendance records, behind-the-wheel logs, assessment results and confirmation that completion was submitted. A website, advertisement or social-media page is not proof that a school remains federally registered.
Why this matters to our community
Removal of a provider does not by itself explain the status of every former student’s training or CDL. If you are enrolled with—or recently completed training through—an affected provider, pause additional payments until you verify the facts, contact the school in writing, and ask FMCSA or your State Driver Licensing Agency how the action applies to your record. Do not assume your CDL was automatically canceled. Useful English terms include Training Provider Registry, emergency removal, proposed removal, completion record, skills tester, refund policy and State Driver Licensing Agency.
