What happened
A FreightWaves reconstruction published Sept. 15 identified 111 entries covered by FMCSA’s Aug. 31 emergency-removal action: 84 entries tied to physical locations in 20 states, 23 online entries and four inactive or unknown-location entries. Pennsylvania and Texas had 13 physical-location entries each. The total counts locations and categories, not necessarily 111 distinct companies, because some providers appear in more than one state or category. FMCSA says the affected providers must immediately stop enrolling students, delivering ELDT, conducting behind-the-wheel training and uploading training certifications.
What drivers should do
Emergency removal and proposed removal are different statuses. An emergency removal is effective immediately and remains in force unless stayed or reversed through review. A proposed-removal notice begins an administrative process; the provider must notify current and scheduled students but may submit a corrective-action plan or request review. FMCSA’s live Training Provider Registry maintains separate official pages for removed providers and providers under review. Because those lists can change, verify the current record rather than relying only on a screenshot, advertisement or an older news list.
Why this matters to our community
Before paying, search the exact legal provider name and training location in the official TPR and confirm that it offers the required Class A, Class B or endorsement theory and behind-the-wheel components. Save the search result, enrollment agreement, receipt, attendance record, course materials, completion date and every email. If a provider is removed, pause new payments and training, request its status in writing, confirm whether your completed training was uploaded, and ask the TPR team and your state licensing agency what applies to your record; do not assume either automatic validity or automatic cancellation. Small carriers should verify training records and assess the driver’s actual English road-sign, inspection and official-communication skills. Useful English terms include emergency removal, proposed removal, provider under review, training certification, administrative review and corrective-action plan.
